History

After returning home from Europe, a wounded and decorated veteran of General George S. Patton's Third Army, Larry Quilty took an insurance course while recovering in a hospital located in Staten Island. In the fall of 1945, Lawrence A. Quilty started selling insurance out of his home with his wife, Leola's assistance. After several years in business, Larry Quilty rented office space in a building on Crown Street and hired his first employee in 1949.

In 1978 Larry Quilty approached a cousin, John H. Dwyer, to join the agency and John became a part of Lawrence A. Quilty Incorporated in 1979. In 1986, John Dwyer was named executive vice president of Lawrence A. Quilty Incorporated.

In the summer of 1990, Larry Quilty retired as the agency's president making John Dwyer the current president. Lawrence A. Quilty Inc. and the Michael J. Larkin Insurance Agency merged under Mr. Dwyer's leadership, creating the Quilty, Dwyer & Larkin Insurance Agency.
